Afrim Hajrullahu u lind më 22 nëntor 1970 në Prishtinë. U diplomua në Akademinë e Arteve, Dega e Pikturës. Nga viti 1989 ka punuar si fotograf profesionist për revista ditore dhe javore në Kosovë. Gjithashtu puna e tij është botuar në këto revista: Paris Match, Liberation, El Pais, New Yorker, Photo District News, La Republica. Në vitin 1992 është punësuar si fotograf në Institutin për Mbrojtjen e Monumenteve të Kulturës në Kosovë. Nga viti 1999 bashkëpunon me “Contact Press Images”. Ai ka marrë pjesë në shumë ekspozita individuale dhe kolektive këtu dhe jashtë vendit. Këtu po i përmendin disa prej tyre: Strasburg, Francë, Galeria e Parlamentit Rinor Europian; Galeria e Arteve, Salloni i 17-të Pranveror, Prishtinë; Zagreb, Kroaci, Galeria e Muzeut të Qytetit, Semana Negra, Gijon, Spanjë etj. Ka realizuar dokumentarë për Arte, Francë; Channel 4, Mbretëri e Bashkuar dhe TV Net, Greqi. Çmimet: Çmimi i Dytë për fotografinë e vitit, “Zëri” javore, 1991 Çmimi i parë në ekspozitën “E bukura – e shëmtuara”. 1992 Çmimi i tretë në ekspozitën e organizuar nga Shoqata për Kthimin e Shqiptarëve të Mërguar. Në vitin 2000 nga World Press Photo është vlerësuar me Çmimin e Dytë në kategorinë “Spot News Single”. Fotografia që u shpërblye titullohej “Policia serbe grumbullon shqiptarët” dhe u publikua në US News & World Report. Ai mori Çmimin Vjetor të Overseas Press Club të Amerikës për një mirënjohje nderi në kategorinë e raportimit fotorgafik më të mirë të publikuar nga jashtë (Çmimi i Medaljes së Artë Robert Capa) për Contact Press Images/US News & World Report.

Afrim Hajrullahu was born on November 22nd in 1970 in Prishtina. He graduated from the Academy of Arts, the Branch of Painting. From 1989 he has worked as a professional photographer for daily and weekly magazines in Kosova. Also his work has appeared in these journals: Paris Match, Liberation, El Pais, New Yorker, Photo District News, La Republica. Since 1992 he is employed as a photographer at the Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments in Kosova. From 1999 he became a member of photo agency “Contact Press Images”. He has participated in many one-man and collective exhibitions here and abroad. Here are some to mention: Strasbourg, France, Gallery of European Youth Parliament; Art Gallery, 17th Spring Salon, Prishtina; Zagreb, Croatia, Town Museum Gallery, Semana Negra, Gijon, Spain, etc. He has realized documentaries for Arte – France, Channel 4 – UK and TV Net – Greece. Awards: 1992 Second price for the photography of the year, “Zeh” weekly 199 I First price in the exhibition “The beautiful – the ugly” 1992 Third price in the exhibition organized by the Association for the Return of Emigrated Albanians In the year 2000 contest of World Press Photo he was awarded with the Second Prize in the category “Spot News Single”. The photography that was awarded was titled “Serb police rounds up Albanians” and was published by the US News & World Report.
He received the Annual Overseas Press Club of America Awards for an honorable mention in the category of best published photographic reporting from abroad (The Robert Capa Gold Medal Award) for the work “Heartbreak in Balkans” for Contact Press Images/US News & World Report.
